ORDERED TO GOD.
GUIDED BY TRADITION.
FORMED FOR VOCATION.
Magis
Magis (MAH-gis) is simply the Latin word for “greater” or “more.” Centuries of Christians have used this word to describe the desire to devote more praise and more glory to God in the Christian life—not necessarily in quantity, but in quality. A life seeking the Magis is a life seeking to know Christ more fully and to order one’s life according to his will.
Looking for “more”?
Each year, the Magis Society invites a small cohort of emerging adults to deeply order their lives to God by committing to the society’s Rule of Life, step into a rhythm of prayer, study, work, and sabbath, all amidst the stability of community of the society and the parish it is attached to, St. John’s Canton (ACNA).
Why commit to serious formation?
Those who commit to the Magis Society during our formation year desire to form lifelong habits of prayer, to drink deeply from the Great Tradition of Christian teaching and practice, to belong to a genuine Christian community, and to learn to hear God’s call to follow Jesus in all of their life.
Join our 2026 Cohort
Join us for our formation year if you:
are at vocational crossroads and want to discern God’s call in a community that is focused on obedience to Christ and faithfulness to his body
want to pursue habits of prayer and spiritual discipline that will last a lifetime alongside a likeminded and supportive community
desire greater depth of relationship with Christ guided by faithful mentors, instructors, and spiritual directors
love the life of the mind and want to study the great texts of church history, theology, poetry, philosophy, and more—becoming immersed in the Great Tradition of Christian teaching down through the centuries
long to deeply understand how Christ reconciles us to God and pursue the reintegration of heart, mind, soul, and strength into God both for personal joy and as a gift to those with whom you will share Christ
If you want the space in your life to pursue deep, Christ-centered growth and holistic Christian formation alongside a group of like-minded and equally dedicated Christian pilgrims, we invite you to consider walking with us for the Magis Society’s Formation Year.
Applications for the 2026-2027 cohort are open from The Feast of the Epiphany (January 6th) to the Feast of the Ascension (May 14). We will process applications that come in on a rolling basis. The earlier you apply, the sooner you’ll hear back from us!
Who should apply to the Magis Society?
Become a Partner
The Magis Society is always looking for partners to support its work of equipping tomorrow's business leaders, ministers, parents, and scholars for a life of faithful Christian service. If you would like to partner with us in this kingdom work, there are a few ways to join in on our effort to form the next generation of faithful Christians: perhaps you might consider joining us in prayer, supporting us financially, referring a fellow, or starting conversations in your own church about whether God is calling you and others to an intentional rule of life.
